Parenting is one of the most important journeys we’ll ever embark on, and with so much advice out there, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. That’s where science-based parenting comes in. Think of it as a parenting philosophy grounded in the same principles as evidence-based medicine – using the best available research to guide decisions.

Parenting backed by science, not opinions
For me, science-based parenting is about approaching parenting questions with curiosity, logic, and a commitment to understanding what truly works for children. It’s not about following trends or repeating the latest headlines; it’s about digging deeper – analyzing studies, weighing evidence, and putting ideas to the test.

When I became a parent, I wanted to apply the same critical thinking skills I used in my professional life to this new and incredible challenge. Like many of you, I didn’t want to base my parenting choices on hearsay or opinion. I wanted real, tested, and reliable information.

Why evidence matters in parenting decisions

At its core, science-based parenting gives us the tools to make informed choices – choices we can feel confident in because they’re backed by evidence, not guesswork. It’s a way to rise above the noise, to sidestep the pressure to conform to popular opinions, and instead focus on what’s best for our kids based on what we know works. This newsletter (& the dedicated course: The Science of Parenting Babies) is my way of sharing that approach with you – simplifying the science, exploring the evidence, and giving you practical insights to support your parenting journey. Together, we can create a foundation for raising confident, healthy, and well-rounded children, one informed decision at a time.

Because when it comes to raising the next generation, what matters most isn’t just what we do – it’s why we do it. And science-based parenting is here to help answer that “why.”
